How It All Began

Kanlungan ni Maria started its operation on May 1, 2022, a project of then-Bishop of Antipolo, Crisostomo A. Yalung, D.D. and now under the pastoral care of Bishop Francisco M. De Leon, D.D.

The idea came from Reverend Father Bienvenido Guevarra who established and run the former Bahay Kalinga, a home for the aged in Binangonan, Rizal.

Bishop Yalung was encouraged to pursue the project together with the Focolare Group who expressed their desire to care for the elderly and marginalized sectors of society.

Kanlungan ni Maria was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 29, 2004, as a non-stock, non-profit organization. Incorporators include Bishop Gabriel V. Reyes, D.D., Msgr. Rigoberto De Guzman, Msgr. Peter Canonero, Father Reynante Rolentino, and Reverend Father Uldarico Dioquino.
